Fundraising for Hope for Justice
Story
Welcome to Jen's fundraising page!
As many of you know, Nathan and I lived in Uganda where we worked for Retrak.
Retrak are an organisation working with children who have ended up living on the street. Most of their work is in Africa and they support children to find a way to live within a family again. Often, they are able to be reunited with their own family- parents or another relative. Sometimes alternative solutions, such as foster care, are found. I worked for Retrak for a number of years; two years in Uganda and two on the UK team. In that time I saw the way in which Retrak transforms lives and I was inspired by the resilience of the children we got to know and the adults who worked tirelessly to support them.
Retrak are now part of a larger UK based charity, called Hope for Justice who aim to end modern day slavery locally and globally. They share the same values as Retrak and both are Christian organisations working to prevent, rescue, restore and reform.
Through these organisations, many people are rescued from terrible situations and supported to build a brighter, more hopeful future.
In October I will be taking part in the charity's Extreme Challenge: climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Committed to raising £5000/€5840 (not including trip costs), every bit of support will contribute to offering hope and change to people trapped in modern slavery and children on the street.
