 WE DID IT!!!!!  We made it to China and back - every step was a challenge, but I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to do this and to help raise so much money for the Alzheimer's Society, as well as raising awareness of the issues faced by the people suffering from dementia, thier families and carers.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me to reach my fundraising target, but don't let that put you off donating more to this incredible charity - every penny really does count and will contribute to something vital for families, friends and carers of people with dementia.

Just so you you know why this is so improtant, here are a few stats on what dementia could mean to all of us: Dementia is one of the main causes of disability in later life, ahead of cancer, heart disease and stroke.  One in three people over 65 will die with dementia.  Over 700,000 people have dementia in the UK, this figure will rise to over a million by 2025.  Most importantly, dementia is not a natural part of ageing - it is caused by diseases of the brain that rob people of their lives.
