As most of you will know, in 2004 my big sister,
Nicole, sadly died of leukaemia when she was just 8 years old after battling
the horrible disease for 5 months.
The bravery Nicole showed throughout her illness still
inspires me and motivates me to always try and do the best I can, so to mark what
would have been her 21st birthday in August this year, I will be
trekking the National Three Peak Challenge in 48 hours, 24th - 26th June. This is the first time
I have ever taken on a walk, let alone a hike like this, and will be pushing my
body in order to reach the peaks of Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and
Snowdon (1,085m)!
I will be raising money for Bloodwise, previously
known as Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a UK charity dedicated to funding
research into all blood cancers including leukaemia. This charity also offers
information and support to blood cancer patients. I hope that trekking these
heights will help the charity to further continue their research, in order to
help other patients and families going through the same experience as Nicole
and my family had and to eventually find a cure for these blood cancers.
It would mean everything to me if you could donate any
amount of money to sponsor me in this very tough and rather scary challenge I’ve
set myself! I suppose the higher I climb the closer I’ll be to Nicole, and I
know the thought of that will definitely keep me walking!
Thank you so much for reading my page and for your
kind donations.
