In August 2018 our family life changed forever when my husband Paul was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. Paul had been in good health until 5 weeks before his diagnosis when he developed headaches. Cancer Focus NI supported Paul but mainly myself & our 3 children throughout 3 months of hospital stays & the ups & downs of treatment. Sarah Jane from the family support team made regular visits to our home which proved to be vital for our children. The visits & support continued following Paul’s passing on 13th November, aged 39. It was so important but heartbreaking to keep our young children informed throughout the journey & to help them deal with their emotions following the death of their wonderful father. Cancer Focus NI supported us in doing so for which we are forever grateful.
