Story

Hello

My name is Pastor Jennfier Pressley with Breath of Life Ministry here in Morristown TN. We are a 501c3 non profit organization. Morristown is a small town that has little resources to help certain needs. Well, I came here commission to start a church when I seen so many young men ages 16 to 65 staying on the streets, downtown and at an old run down college. My heart went out and I began to ask God what can I do with no money at all. A lot of the churches here that I asked would not help me and some wanted me out off town because I'm not from here and I am a woman Pastor, but that did not stop me. I asked this spanish guy what he was going to do with his home. He wanted to sell, but I told him my vision for this area because they dont have a men home here. Right now we are the only Men Home here. The women and children have plenty of resources, but the men have no one to cared about them, no resources. I know what it is like to have a brother that your family can't afford the cost to send them to rehab or the insurance that would pay and all you can do is watch them kill themselves, so I was determine to help men from ages16 and up. That man said yes, start with my house and let me be the first client. It was a three bedroom home. we started with five guys, one from the department of Children and family the young man was on crack and pills and had anger issues never had a family, he went through 14 foster homes and always got kicked out. He was 18 years old. Well I was happy to meet him and he had a choice to go to an apartment alone or come with me and my husband to show him his new home. He said he would go. My husband and I do one on one counselling with the men and help get them jobs and take them to their jobs to ensure no failure on our part to help them acheive success. They have to want it as much as we want it for them. We have AA/ NA, Anger Management programs and GED and 3 meals a day and tone of encouragement. This young man stayed with us over a year, conquered the use of drugs and learned how to control his anger, not only that his case worker said he would have seizers often. The case worker was impressed to know the doctor lowered his seizer medicine and he was doing great. He started working and got two jobs and both supervisors loved him. We helped him save his money and he was able to buy his first car. In the second year he finally said he wanted to try being on his on and we hated it, but knew he was ready to step out. He got him an apartment and doing great. The spanish guy was a bad acoholic and stayed for over a year, he wanted to self destruct because of his marriage. With one on one counseling consistantly, he came to except the wrong he did to his wife and the wrong he did to his family and friends and finally to himself and forgave himself so he could get better and admitted he was an acoholic. Now he lives in Jersey City with his son working with him in his contruction business. He still keep in touch. Since then we have been getting calls from the Judges, Youth jails, Attorneys, family and the person that wants help because they have seen first hand what Love can do when you don't judge, but the home we have is too small and we need a bigger home and 2 more vans for transportation of the guys to court and to their probation officer and work and meetings. We also need 14 single beds and rails. We need support to keep the facility running while taking some of them through detox, or trying to get them jobs. We are a Faith Base transitional Men Home and we get from 5 to 20 calls a week. This other home will house 16 or more men with five bathrooms eight room. I am looking forward to helping more young men. More testimonies will be added.  Life is not worth living unless you are helping someone become a better person and a better citizen. I love being apart of helping our brothers and sons take back control of their lives and become whole and happy again. We do more than just give them a place to stay, lives are being changed.
