In memory of Bob Wilson

Big Black Mountain Challenge 2020 · 16 May 2020 ·
This year marks twenty years since our dad, Bob Wilson, passed away tragically at the age of 46. At the time we did not fully appreciate the significance of his young age and the amount of life he has been cheated out of and it seems appropriate and comforting to celebrate and remember him by raising money for a charity that he was part of to keep his legacy alive.
My sister and I are taking part in the Big Blacks Mountain challenge, walking 30km across the Black Mountains of South Wales on the 13th May 2023, in memory of Dad and to raise money for the Longtown Mountain Rescue Team (LTMRT).
The Longtown Mountain Rescue Team are a charity, consisting of volunteers who give up their free time to combine a love of the outdoors with helping to support local police forces in search and rescue operations. Although team members give up their time voluntarily, having the equipment, vehicles and support facilities to operate and potentially save lives is a expensive. There is no Government funding, so raising the money to operate each year is an ongoing challenge facing the team.
Dad was an active member of the LTMRT at the time he passed away after many years of volunteering and it will be an honour and privilege to participate in and support something that he was so passionate about.
