Thank you so much for making a donation to a charity which is close to both our hearts.

I was privileged to serve in places like Iraq and Afghanistan and fortunate, unlike too many servicemen and women, to make it home unharmed. Most of all, Jenny and I were lucky to have each other and all of you - our wonderfully supportive friends and family.

That's not to say it was always easy and there are, sadly, many for whom coming home is the end of one fight but the beginning of another. The mental scars of war are invisible, but they are no less debilitating and in some respects even more difficult to live with and to treat. Irrespective of our personal opinions on particular conflicts, we as a society ask these sacrifices of our Armed Forces and all of us enjoy the freedoms they fight for on our behalf. The support that Combat Stress offers is invaluable and much deserved by those who have given so much.

Jenny and I have each other and pretty much everything a couple could ever want. In choosing to make a donation to this excellent charity we hope you may be giving someone else the chance at the happiness we have, which is pretty much the best wedding present either of us could imagine - thank you.
