Aitchison Family Row for Dementia Support is happening today!

Aitchison Family Row for Dementia Support · 21 August 2018
The Aitchison family will be rowing approximately 18 nautical miles for an extended tour of Chichester Harbour on the 21st of August, visiting seven churches that adjoin the Harbour. We will be starting the row in Chichester Marina and will then go on to Dell Quay, Birdham, Itchenor, West Wittering, Emsworth, Chidham and Bosham. This challenge is to raise the remaining £6,000 of the £10,500 that we have pledged to raise for Dementia Support. Dementia Support provides services under one roof for people living with dementia, and their families and carers, in West Sussex.
The money raised will go towards funding the construction of the new Support Hub’s hair and beauty salon. It is aptly being named Helvellyn after the famous Lake District peak that my father, David, so loved to climb. My father spent the last four years of his life with dementia and living in a care home. Therefore, our family are proud to be helping in a small way to improve the lives of those living with dementia, as well as their families.
This will be a big challenge as we have done very little training to prepare for this row (other than the attached photo!) and having now seen the boat and felt the weight of the oars we are all thinking this is going to be a real test of family harmony. The rowing team will be Jeremy, Roo, Harry, Cesca, Dolly and Catherine.
