Story
Hi, as some of you probably know I have been looking at a way to keep fit that is enjoyable and not just going to the gym. For me this is cycling as it is the only sport I know that I can take part in whilst going to the pub. I can often be seen puffing and panting my way round the Surrey country lanes in my fetching Lycra that I now wear but was once heard saying "you'll never get me wearing that".(Photos soon to be posted) It's now a classic case of " all the gear and no idea" but I do love it and I find it helps burn the calories so that I can enjoy my other hobbies of drinking and eating . I actually enjoy most forms of cycling but I am mainly using my road bike at present. I also do spin classes 2 to 3 times per week and try to get out on one of my bikes at least once per week as well.
I have completed numerous sponsored bike rides over the last few years and whilst on holiday this year I decided I wanted a real cycling challenge.
Searching the internet I happened upon the London to Paris bike ride and immediately that was what I wanted to do. On my return from holiday I booked up straight away.
Obviously the other reason for this challenge is to raise money for charity and whilst there are hundreds of deserving charities to choose from it was an easy decision as to which one I would choose.
My mum Libby set up C.A.M.D.Y. (Caring for Adoslecent Mothers and Disadvantaged Youths in the Caribbean) in 1996 and has worked tirelessly since then raising funds and sending thousands of books, clothes and toys out to Tobago.
She and her friends and family have made a huge difference to hundreds of families in Tobago.
The money that I raise will go towads more containers so that more resources can be sent.
Please see C.A.M.D.Y facebook page for further information
