Story

I will be running the Oxford Half Marathon on October 16, 2022 and raising funds for Headway Oxfordshire in memory of my father-in-law, Francis Carnwath. Francis suffered life-changing injuries after a fall, and we saw first hand the support and advice that Headway can offer.

Last year I ran the Oxford Half, which was my first half marathon for approximately 30 years. I am delighted to say that I came in at around the same time as my 16-year-old self, so take that, youth! Huge thanks to everyone who helped smash my fundraising target.

This year, in a triumph of optimism over experience, I shall be giving it another go. Will age and guile overcome youth, innocence and a bad haircut?

Headway Oxfordshire is a charity that supports people affected by acquired brain injury, which has been as a result of a brain injury such as a stroke, tumour, haemorrhage or disease, as well as traumatic brain injury resulting from a road traffic accident, fall or sporting injury. Our mission is to improve life after brain injury and to raise awareness of brain injury. Our centre in Kennington provides rehabilitation activities. We also provide 1-1 community support that help support individuals integrate back into everyday community life.
