Story
Jersey Reds Athletic will be completing a series of events and challenges before the start of the 21/22 season. 100% of all funds raised are going to our chosen charity, Friends of Jersey Oncology.
Introducing the first challenge: The Minquiers Marathon!
Jersey Reds Athletic are taking on the most southerly Marathon in the British Isles. On the 28th February they will head south with Jersey Seafaris to the Minquiers. The marathon will take place on the sandbanks which are only revealed on the biggest low tides for a limited time. This will be a race against the tide on soft sand - can they do it?! The lads will have to keep a constant pace to complete within 4hrs 30 mins. But the sand is soft and wet, this won’t be easy!!
As soon as the banks are uncovered the race will start, the course will get bigger and bigger until the tide is low, at low tide there will be about 2/3km of sand - so lots of back and forth.
Two teams of 5 will each attempt to run the distance as a relay - tide waits for no one!!!!!

Friends of Jersey Oncology is our chosen charity and was formed to enhance the services offered by the Oncology unit here in Jersey. The funds they raise help provide additional care, comfort and support for patients and their loved ones during their treatment. A cancer diagnosis can have a huge impact on patients, their families and caregivers.
We at Jersey Athletic feel that this is even more important due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
