Story
Tragically our lovely Ellie passed away February 2019 after a two year battle with a rare form of sarcoma cancer. After being diagnosed in November 2016 she went through two years of chemotherapy in Leeds and Germany, then proton therapy in America. She had just been accepted on to a clinical trial when she died peacefully, having a day spent with her family and friends.
We grew up with Ellie and the whole Waind family have been a core part of our lives for as long as we can remember. To lose her has been beyond devastating for us and everyone that had the privilege of knowing her. Despite her illness she lived a full life, and gave so much time to her friends and family, never failing to put others before herself. It is because of this, that right before she died she asked that money be raised for Sarcoma UK. It was typical of El that even though she knew she would never be able to benefit from the charity herself, she wanted others to be given the best chance at living with the disease.
Jess finished the marathon in 2022 and now KP will be running this April (fingers crossed no more injuries). This marathon is to honour Ellie’s memory: the wonderful daughter, sister, and best friend she was and will always be. Any donations big or small would mean so much.
Thanks for taking the time to read,
