Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, raising vital funds for Nottinghamshire Hospice.

As many on you already know I work for Nottinghamshire Hospice, I'm fortunate enough to have had 2 roles since I began working there in early 2015. I began my time there as a Health care Assistant working nights providing 1 to 1 Hospice at Home care to patients across nottinghamshire, supporting them to remain in their homes at the end of their lives, I feel very privileged to have been able to support people this way. In January 2016 I became a Care Co-Ordinator, working within the care services team to Co-ordinate our team of nurses and health care assistant all across the county and support the provisions of day therapy on our beautiful site at Woodborough road. I'm a small cog in a very big machine that works tirelessly for our community, and even on the stressful days something always reminds me that what we are doing is worthwhile.

What some people may not know is that after her 18 Month fight against Ovarian cancer, in december last year, Carol Gagg, lost her fight. Carol was my Step mums mum, my brothers Grandma, my dad's mother in Law, Pat's loving wife. From being tiny she may not have a title as a member of my family but she and Pat always accepted me as if I fit, I'm filled with happy memories and I'm eternally greatful. As my step mums mum I'm sure I have her to thank for the role she took supporting Ery in being an amazing mum to my brothers, a loving stepmum to me and although she won't accept the title (!) Ery's a brilliant grandma herself too! ;-) Nottinghamshire Hospice, supported Carol by providing nursing care at home through her final days, so she could die comfortably, at home with her family.

So in Carol's memory I take on this personal challenge.

With every training walk I do. With every blister I get (I've already got some!!) I thank the Hospice team for their dedication.

Please give if you can and thankyou for taking the time to read my story.
