Jessica's marathon in Paris

2010 Paris Marathon · 11 April 2010 ·
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and supporting me with my marathon in Paris.
Why am I doing this?
Participating in the Paris Marathon on the 11th April this year is the final challenge that I have set myself for completing my 2009 new year's resolution.
For 2009, I set myself a goal to participate in various running events, which included:
- the Water of Life Half Marathon in March 2009
- the British Heart Foundation Tower of London 10k in May 2009
- the BUPA City of London 10k in May 2009
- the Run to the Beat Greenwich Half Marathon in September 2009
- and also various 5k and 10k races around Regents Park, Battersea park and the streets of london.
Please take a look at the photos I have attached as proof of me running at these events!
So for 2010, what better way to top all this and put all my hard work to a real test by competing in the Paris Marathon!
What have I got to do?
Well apart from simply running around the streets of Paris (instead of London), I get to run past the wonderful sights of the capital of France, starting at the Champs Elysees and running past the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame to name a few. But whilst doing this, I have to complete 26.2 miles (or 42.195km).
Why am I raising money for a charity?
Unlike the London Marathon, I don't have to raise any money for a charity in order to run in the Paris Marathon. Instead I simply have to pay a participate fee to get my race number. But I thought that all this hard work that I've done in 2009 and 2010 so far (and still need to do in the next 5 weeks) should be put to good use and therefore I would like to ask if you would kindly sponsor me to run in the Paris Marathon.
The charity that I have chosen to run for is 'Care for the Wild'.
This is a small charity that looks after wildlife animals in the UK and wild animals broad, for example the sort of work they do is:
- Rehabilitating Badgers in Kent
- Rescuing Seals in Cornwall
- Saving Dolphins in Moray Firth
- Monitoring the impact of global warming on Polar Bears
- Protecting endangered Tigers in Thailand
- Starting new lives for mistreated Bears in Thailand
