Story

The time has come (almost) to put the training to test and get on the two wheels for a jaunt over the water to the French capital, Paris. On 27th September I will attempt to cycle 200 miles over 3 days to the second most popular city beginning with P along most of the Avenue Verte. I am attempting this in the hope to raise money for small but worthy charity.

Not many of you would have heard of AHC, and nor had I until last year.

Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC) is a rare neurological disorder in which repeated paralysis of a portion of the body, including the face occur, usually affecting one side of the body or the other, or both sides of the body at once. It ranges from simple numbness in an extremity to full loss of feeling and movement. Due to logistical issues I had to drop out of the cycle last year but I promised if I were to do it again then I would keep the AHC cause as my charity of choice to support a friend whose son suffers from this rare condition.

As with all charities it relies on the generosity of supporters and I'm reaching out to friends now to help me reach my target in support of this cause.

Cycling is something I've only recently gotten into over the past 2 years and those of you that know me well will know how much I complain of aches and pains after (and most of the time during - my lucky wing ladies are in for a treat!) a couple of hours out on the saddle. To do this over a series of consecutive days will be a new challenge for me and one that I'd welcome your support with. I have organised the ride myself and will be cycling with two friends, unsupported for the first 2 days which will definitely add to the challenge! If you can spare even a cheeky nugget to donate to this worthy charity you'd not only be helping out the cause but encouraging me to make up those miles as well.

Thanks everyone and see you on the road.

J :)
