Story
Thanks for visiting & donating to myJustGiving page.
In March 2016, my family received the most devastating of news. My mum (Liz Harding) was rushed to St. George’s Hospital whilst having severe shortness of breath to the point she almost couldn’t breathe at all. It turned out that the area around her lungs had filled completely with fluid. This fluid was putting intense pressure on her heart and lungs. She was in intensive care fighting for her life.
After tests of this fluid she was unfortunately diagnosed with late-stage Lung Cancer. For someone who had never smoked before this came as a huge shock to us all.
For her final weeks, my mum received palliative care at Royal Trinity Hospice in Clapham. She had become so ill that she required 24/7 support, care and medication. Her room in the hospice overlooked beautiful gardens and the nurses were some of the kindest, friendliest and most helpful people I have met.
In my mother's honour myself and my close friend Anna will be running the 2018 London Marathon together. We aim to raise awareness for cancer in general, but more specifically to raise as much money as possible for Royal Trinity Hospice.
This charity is hugely important to me. I was extremely surprised to hear that 80% of their funding comes from donations and the public’s generosity. If you can please donate to this fantastic cause (however small) we would be extremely grateful.
