My name is Jessie Flaum. I am 19 years old. My passion, and often the way I get messages across, has always been through music and singing.  Therefore, I have decided to put on a charity concert which will include a variety of musical acts. I will be promoting and raising money for a charity that is really close to my heart, JWA, which stands for Jewish Women’s Aid. They are an incredible charity who support women in a variety of circumstances, as well as those who have been through sexual violence or rape. Being a survivor of rape myself, I have been greatly supported in my time of need by my parents, my family, my friends, my boyfriend, and JWA. They are a truly amazing charity who I want to thank tremendously and give back to. Through this concert I am aiming to raise awareness, not only for this charity but also awareness on sexual assault and rape and speaking out. This themed concert, entitled “Rise Up” will hopefully send messages about surviving. I want to send out a vital message to anyone on their journey to recovery so they can know that IT WASN'T YOUR FAULT, YOU AND I ARE STRONG, AND WE ARE POWERFUL AND BRAVE WOMEN.  Any support you can give me is greatly appreciated. I hope I can make other survivors realise and believe, even in the darkest moments, that it gets better… that our experiences do not define us… that together we stand powerful and strong.
