Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My youngest sister Sophie died in 2003 from complications brought on by having MS.  I ran the London Marathon in 2010 for the MS Society.

In October 2012 my other sister Emma was diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumour - a ganglioglioma.  She had immediate surgery to remove the tumour.  In summer 2014 there were signs that the tumour was coming back and Emma underwent Radiotherapy.  In autumn 2015 the tumour returned again.  Emma underwent chemotherapy but unfortunately it didn't work and she passed away on 15th March 2016.

Because this type of tumour is quite rare, especially in adults, there is not so much information on how best to treat it, and on the long-term prognosis.  That is why funding for the ICR is so important.  I work at the Royal Marsden Hospital, and I know about the great work being done at both the Hospital and at the Institute to improve the treatment and outcomes for cancer patients.

I am running the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon in March 2016, followed by the Edinburgh Marathon at the end of May.  Please give whatever you can to this cause.
