Story
I’ve decided to do this run in aid of “Friends of the Elderly” Partly down to a childhood memory I have of a nice elderly man in our local area who lived in a residential home who was a friend of the family.
It's also inspired by the recent TV Progamme Derek that through a brilliant comedy also eloquently shone some light on some of the issues in care homes and the lack of volunteers and funding that goes towards these facilities.
It got me thinking about how dependent a lot of our elderly community are on interactions with carers and how I would want to be looked after should I live to that age. If I can go some way to contributing to someone’s quality of life in their later years then I think it’s a worthy cause.
I’ve never ran further than a 10k and so this is going to be a bit of a challenge to set myself as well.
Any Donation is welcomed no matter how small and I really appreciate you taking the time to read this far.
