Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for a fantastic local charity called SeeSaw.
I have been involved with SeeSaw since 2003 and have seen it help and support so many families over the last 9 years. It is an extremely well run charity with fantastic staff and trustees - all the money I raise will go directly to helping families.
SeeSaw helps and supports children, young people and their families in Oxfordshire both before and after a major bereavement, helping them to move forward and to face the future with hope. Being told that someone in your family is seriously ill and that they are going to die is devastating for everyone – it doesn’t matter how old or young you are the news is shattering.
Over the years this innovative Oxfordshire charity has not only developed a range of support services for bereaved children and their families but it has also become a leader in providing training and information about bereavement to professionals, literature and resources and dedicated tailored grief support for children.
It costs over £300,000 a year to continue to provide comprehensive and much needed support services across the county, making them accessible to those who really need them. The charity receives very little government funding and relies on the generosity of our supporters to help keep this unique and valuable service running.
By offering your support you can help us to safeguard this valuable service. Early intervention for grieving children and young people is proven to be effective, helping them to continue to lead happy, fulfilling lives, knowing that SeeSaw is always there to help them not only now but when and if they have a “wobble” in the years to come. SeeSaw cannot sort or remove the grief felt by children and their families but SeeSaw is able to support them through their grief.
As one child who was supported by SeeSaw put it;
“The prickles round your heart get less sharp.”
“You begin to look forward while remembering the past too.”
