Jo's 180 miles for 180 years

180 miles for 180 years · 1 February 2020
December 2019 saw the Scottish SPCA celebrate its 180th birthday and to mark such a momentous occasion they are asking animal lovers across Scotland to try to raise £180 each.
In a fit of insanity I decided that I could do my bit for the truly fantastic charity I work for by challenging myself to run 180 miles... in just 60 days! That’s almost 7 full marathons in just 2 months. And I’ll be fitting it all in around my full time vet job and being Mummy to 2 young children. Oh, and did I mention I’m not really very good at distance running?!
It’s a HUGE challenge for me and is going to mean a lot of 5am alarm calls and late night gym sessions but I honestly believe that this incredible cause is worth it.
So, for all the kennel staff who feed and care for and love the animals in our care every day, for the inspectors who are at the frontline of bringing animal abusers to justice, for the animal rescue officers who go above and beyond to help injured animals, for the education team educating future generations to prevent animal cruelty, for all the admin and “behind the scenes” teams who keep the SSPCA running for the sake of animal welfare, for my fabulous colleagues in the vet clinic who work tirelessly to get the animals fit for rehoming, and of course for all the animals who find themselves in our care for whatever reason, please sponsor me in this crazy, exhausting, slightly insane challenge.
The aim is to start on 1st February and finish by 31st March. I’ll post updates here as I go.
