Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I did the walk earlier today (Sat 11th Sept) The weather was kind and the scenery around here is beautiful. I was in good company and we enjoyed splendid hospitality at some of the Churches. Dad would have particularly enjoyed Nobby Kerton's cider at Chilton Cantelo and Margo Batchelor's biscuits at Mudford.
I did this sponsored walk around the 5 churches in our benefice in memory of my Dad, who died last Christmas. Last September, at the age of 93, he raised over £70 for HoverAid by riding his famous scooter to three of these churches to meet up with a group who were doing a sponsored walk. This year a similar event was planned to raise funds for the upkeep of the beautiful and historic churches of Somerset. I worship regularly at St Mary's Church, Mudford, and so did Dad. Our church is in need of urgent repairs; half of what I raise will go to St Mary's. The rest will go to the Friends of Somerset Churches and Chapels, a charity that has been very generous to our church in the past. If you haven't already done so, I do hope you feel able to support me.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity my family and friends have shown so far, I've been able to increase my target from £150 to £300, and I have now (Sunday 12th) exceeded that! My sponsors have been brilliant. I cannot thank them enough.
My page will remain active for a bit longer, so, if you haven't sponsored me yet, please dig deep and donate now.
