Story

My dad suffered a very serious heart attack on Monday the 15th
of May in a museum café down in Cornwall. The café staff were amazing and performed CPR with the support of the 999 phone handler until 2 ambulances andair ambulance arrived and they were able to resuscitate him around 20mins after his heart stopped beating.

He is truly making a remarkable recovery, and this is due to
the swift and expert care received from the paramedics, and the staff at The Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro especially the critical care unit and the cardiac ward. We will be forever grateful for their care that helped to ensure our Dad is still with us now.

As many will know, Dad is a very keen cyclist and has
completed Ride London (which is a 100mile bike ride) every year for the past 10 years without fail. He was very excited to take part in this years event in just 10 days time as it was the first one he was going to do with company :myself, my partner Josh and Dad’s good friend Martin. Unfortunately, he will not be able to complete the race this year but my brother Oli is going to take his place, and we will cross the line for him as he recovers.

Oli hasn’t cycled for around 3 years and is stepping up to
take his place and this is my first time I have cycled this far also, so it
will be a challenge for us both. We want to do the ride in aid of Royal
Cornwall Hospitals Charity and specifically the Cornish Heart Unit Fund to enable them to continue to provide lifesaving care and support many more families, just like ours. Specifically, any donations received will go to fund patient care, staff welfare and amenities, staff training & courses, medical research and equipment for the cardiac ward.

We will appreciate any donation you are able to give.

Thankyou,

Jo & Oli Goddard
