We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Runners know that regular exercise helps transform both their physical health and mental well-being. We also know that for visually impaired people, a guide dog can do the same for their everyday lives. It takes £5,000 to support a guide dog puppy from birth to training school and the Penn Pacers Running Fitness group are delighted that their first two puppies, Pacer and Milton, are now enrolled at training school. The group  have raised a further £12,500 to name and fund "Lucy", “Phoebe", “Jojo” and "Andy" who are happily placed with puppy walkers. Puppy “Andy” was named in recognition of a very dear running friend who recently passed away. He will be a living legacy that will go on to help transform a life. We are now fundraising for our seventh pup. Any financial support you can give will be very appreciated.

Penn Pacers fitness sessions are run by Jo who is a qualified guide runner and running coach registered with England Athletics. She is supported by  coach Sharon and Declan and Chris who are EA qualified run leaders and experienced across a number of distances. All sessions are free to access and are open to all running abilities. Guide runners are available to those wishing to participate who also have a visual impairment.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
