In 2015 I suffered a stroke during a Rugby League Cup Final.

It changed my life irrevocably and recovery from it physically and mentally was challenging. Along the way I suffered two TIAs.

I was left with aphasia and to this day, still suffer with the side effects physically and neurologically.

Mentally, I was diagnosed with depression during my recovery as I was told I could no longer participate in the sport I loved, this had a colossal impact on my mental fitness.

I had previously suffered with mental health having being diagnosed in 2006 with PTSD.

All of this was a challenge, but with the support of my family and friends, I endured, I recovered and more than that, I evolved from that chapter of my life with a rejuvenated purpose.

Although I have other health issues and I take medication to ensure that I reduce the risk of another stroke, I have turned these experiences into a positive.

I know work with State of Mind Sport and share my experiences and recovery.

I have wanted to personally do something for the Steve Prescott Foundation, because who wasn’t inspired by Steve and his legacy?

Also, I know the value of what they do and how it supports those who are in need.

This will be a challenge for me, I have no doubts I will be pushed to my physical and mental limits as we ascend heights of 7500 feet, through tough terrain and desert conditions, but I know that I reuse to be beaten.

I can’t do this without the support of you guys.

If you could donate ANYTHING I would be hugely grateful and you can know that your donation is supporting those who need it the most and changing lives.

For any businesses, I will be participating in the first ever game of Rugby League to be played in the Grand Canyon captained by Barrie McDermott and Lee Briers. We will have flags that your business can purchase starting from £250, which will be placed in the Grand Canyon with your logo on, and you will receive photographs that will be shared on all social media platforms reaching on average 80,000 people.

Thank you in advance.

About the charity

The Steve Prescott Foundation was set up by a totally inspirational man Steve Prescott MBE. In 2006 he was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a terminal cancer & sought out to raise funds for The Christie Hospital and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund.
