Y Care International is the international development and relief agency of the YMCA in the UK and Ireland. We work in partnership with YMCAs in the global south, funding and supporting grassroots development programmes that help young people lift themselves out of poverty.

Story

We did it! 26 of us climbed Snowdon on Saturday 30th June 2012. Pete and I got up early and started our walk at 7am. We headed up the Pgy route, and returned on the Miners route. The weather was horrific: heavy rain and frightenly fast winds. Half of the group went down on the train after winds reached almost 40mph, but Pete and I decided to brave the elements and make our way back down. It was an incredible and challenging experience.

Thank you everyone for your donations...

Y Care International works in partnership with YMCAs to support projects in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, that empower young people and their communities to find alternatives to a future of poverty and disadvantage.
In March 2011 I was fortunate enough to be able to go to visit some of the projects Y Care International support in East Jerusalem and the occupied territories of Palestine.
Among the projects visited were the East Jerusalem YMCA in Jericho, which provides vocational training for young people to support them find work, to enable their families and communities get out of poverty; establishing water supplies for beduoin communities; rehabilitation programmes for those affected by the political unrest; and the Olive Tree Campaign with the Joint Advocacy Initiative.
