Story

The stories of young people being diagnosed with Cancer are becoming more common and it highlights the need to live each day as it comes and enjoy the time we have.

The reason for raising money for this charity is that they are the professionals who will be looking after a family friend who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. The Cancer is Soft Tissue Sarcoma (Cancer of the muscle). The reason for it being Stage 4 is because it has spread from his arm to his lungs and is incurable.

He is currently going through a Chemotherapy programme to hopefully shrink the Tumours and then with all the positivity in the world have surgery to remove the Tumour from his arm and lungs.

So, what can I do to help? Bizarrely I enjoy running (strange I know), but a marathon didn't seem like enough for raising money. So, as part of my training I will be taking part in the Edinburgh marathon with the main aim of achieving the good for age 3 hours 5 minutes time.

The main event and what I will be doing to raise the money is the GrimReaper 70 mile race (http://www.grimreaperultra.co.uk/race). This will be a challenge even for an established runner but I am very much going into the unknown by running this distance.

Thank you for taking your time to read this and if you can spare any money, however big or small it would be greatly appreciated and will go towards helping people in similar situations with the equipment and treatment they need to battle against this truly awful illness.
