Story
In March this year, it will be 15 years since my mother passed away due to cancer. I remember her once telling me that she never thought she would live to see me go to school. While she was lucky enough to see me start school, she never saw me finish. Over the past 15 years it saddens me to think of the other wonderful moments she has missed: Seeing me and my two brothers grow into adulthood; my graduation from university; and the birth of her two beautiful grandchildren.
So, in her memory and to raise money for Cancer Research UK, I have decided that later this year, I will walk the Camino de Santiago. The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrimage from a small village on the French side of the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, nearly 800 kilometres away. Crossing mountains, fields and forests, it will take me approximately 30 days to complete.
Cancer Research UK is the world’s largest independent cancer research charity and works tirelessly to conduct research in prevention, treatments and possible cures. It is also almost entirely funded by the public so if you would like to sponsor me to walk the Camino de Santiago, please head over to my Just Giving page and donate as much as you can to this brilliant cause.
We’ll love you forever Mum.
