St Raphael's Hospice offers the best of palliative care to terminally ill patients in south west London and Surrey. Medical, nursing and support staff do everything possible to relieve pain and sustain quality of life in an atmosphere of peace and comfort, for patients of all faith or none.

Story

This will be my 18th annual overseas Charity Fundraising event in a row. I will be going to Costa Rica where it will be hilly, hot and humid and cycling about 280 miles over five days in order to raise as much as I possibly can, with your generous help, for one of the most wonderful places I have ever been to. St Raphael's provides tender, loving care to those on the last leg of their journey on earth, and ensures that they are free of pain in the process. Not only do they prepare their patients for a calm and peaceful progression to the next life but they also provide loving counsel to their relatives - and often it is the relatives who gain the most benefit. It costs £5m p.a. to run the Hospice and only 28% comes from NHS. The rest comes from voluntary giving and legacies. Please be as generous as possible and give as much as you can afford. As in past years, I shall send a 'journal' of my trip to all those who support my charity cycle ride and thus help the Hospice.
