I'm not going to jump out of a plane, climb a mountain or mountain bike down the most dangerous road in the world to fundraise. You'd all see straight through that and know I was doing it for fun!
Instead, I've quit my job and left my life and I'm hoping that I can put my skills to good use promoting the hard work the Raleigh team do in Costa Rica & Nicaragua.
So many people have little faith in international charities and question whether their money goes into the right hands and does any good. Well I'll be there and I'll be blogging about it! So if you donate some of your hard earned cash I'll be sharing how it's being spent, giving you that wonderful warm feeling inside every time you hear how you've helped.
In Nicaragua there are communities living in extreme poverty, it's in fact the second poorest country in the western hemisphere. Many don't have access to clean water or decent sanitation. It's hard to imagine living like that when you've only ever had a decent standard of living. I believe all our fellow humans deserve clean water to drink and wash in and live without the fear of catching disease from doing such simple things we take for granted. The Raleigh team are working hard to build a water system in a town called Potosi, giving hundreds of families access to clean water.
So I'll be working full-time for the next 3 months communicating what these guys are up to and giving you all first hand updates. As part of my role I've committed to raise some cash for these projects and I'm so grateful for any donations and I'm sure the communities I meet will be too!
Thank you! Johanna x
