Next Loadbearing Fan Dance 29th June 2019, Armed Forces Day?

My first race ever I have not got a finisher’s medal for!  I had a bit of a bad back since before running the 2019 London Marathon. I started the race with over 16kg, but unfortunately, my back decided to slow me down. So, I was 7 minutes too slow to make the 12km halfway cut off time. Priority was obviously to be fit to be back at work, which I was.

The 3rd one will be during Covid-19 lockdown 3rd May 2020?

Luke 14:27 ESV - "Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple."

The SF Experience are running a special Virtual Fan Dance this weekend. I will be doing 24km in my back garden with 16kg. I just won the mind battle of it. Enduring the boredom of the same scenery should be a laugh.

"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." - Romans 5:3-4 New International Version (NIV)

* 2nd Loadbearing Fan Dance finished Saturday 19th Jan 2019.

* 1st Loadbearing Fan Dance finished Saturday 23rd June 2018.

...for HTB Church!

Matthew 16:24 (NLT) "Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me…"

"The Book of Esther, also known in Hebrew as "the Scroll" (Megillah), is a book in the third section (Ketuvim, "Writings") of the Jewish Tanakh (the Hebrew Bible) and in the Christian Old Testament. It is one of the five Scrolls (Megillot) in the Hebrew Bible. It relates the story of a Hebrew woman in Persia, born as Hadassah but known as Esther, who becomes queen of Persia and thwarts a genocide of her people."

She was Queen to King Xerxes I of Persia.

"The Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Greek city-states, led by King Leonidas of Sparta, and the Persian Empire of Xerxes I over the course of three days, during the second Persian invasion of Greece. It took place simultaneously with the naval battle at Artemisium, in August or September 480 BC, at the narrow coastal pass of Thermopylae ("The Hot Gates")."

THE FAN DANCE OVERVIEW:

https://thesfexperience.co.uk/events/the-fan-dance-series/

This is a 24km route march in the Brecon Beacons which is infamous within the ranks of all UKSF soldiers. It is now over 50 years old and still today forms the first major hurdle on Selection and is a major indicator of whether a potential UKSF soldier has the physical and mental determination to complete it within the cut off time set by the D.S (Directing Staff). The route starts and finishes at The Storey Arms Outdoor Education Centre and ascends Pen y Fan which is 2,907 feet (886 m…). The turn round point is at Torpantau where candidates will have to quickly turn round then return using the same route back up and over Pen y Fan via a very steep path known as Jacobs Ladder.
