Christopher, known to many as 'Bomber', was a sportsman and a gentleman.

Sport played a highly important role in his life. From an early age this is where he found his true strength and calling. His Cheltenham College days were marked by his many sports matches, annoyingly interrupted by the odd lesson! He took this sporting passion with him throughout his life, playing his beloved sports right to the end. Cricket, rugby, real tennis, golf, bowls and shooting .... Over the years there have been many team photos, some with trophies in hand, others just enjoying time with teammates. 

Along the way Bomber not only amassed a phenomenal number of friends, but he also campaigned tirelessly to ensure that others were offered the same opportunities to enjoy the sports that meant so much to him. Chance to Shine, where he was a volunteer for many years, was close to his heart. The ethos of the charity summed up his beliefs. He loved the chance to spot talent and potential in young players, and then help them build their confidence and encourage their sporting journey. 

Generous with his time, Bomber was both a 'doer' and a 'facilitator'. He supported his beliefs with action. For years he campaigned for the Conservative Party, and was an active member of his many sporting clubs, including Queen's, MCC, Hurlingham and Royal Wimbledon. He was ever keen to put people together to 'make things happen'. Many reading this will be nodding their head and thinking of the many contributions he had made.

While London offered the sporting clubs that Bomber so much enjoyed, a part of his heart lay in the countryside, and in particular the special piece of Warwickshire countryside where his Aunt Mary had once lived. This idyllic spot held many happy childhood memories, and to the end he was involved in a Wildlife Conservation Trust to ensure that the land remained loved and protected.

Christopher was also a strong family man. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting relatives and strengthening family ties. He much enjoyed his time spent tracing family history. Over the years he collected many family photos and letters with the plan one day to publish them. 

He will be remembered fondly by all those who met and knew him. His jovial nature will be much missed, but the happy memories and his legacy will thankfully remain. RIP Bomber. And may we all at some point raise a glass in your honour ..... maybe a G&T or a whisky ......
