Founded in 2014, Dementia Support is a young, unique charity that provides complete dementia services in one community-based hub, known as Sage House. We provide support and information to anyone wanting to know more about how to live well with dementia, both pre and post diagnosis.

Story

My ambition is to complete each of the 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors, raising money for charity in the process; I ran the London marathon in October 2021 and the Boston marathon in April 2022.  This autumn I ran the Chicago Marathon in October and the New York City Marathon in November.  I have chosen to raise funds for the Dementia Support charity after hearing of their hugely valuable work through friends who have family members with dementia.

The charity says: “Dementia is now the leading cause of death in the UK. It’s a devastating and complex condition. Every 3 minutes somebody will develop dementia. There is no cure. There are 900,000 people with dementia in the UK. We at Dementia Support are there for all those who need our help. We reduce loneliness, give the best quality care and provide hope, supporting the whole family..”
