Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I met Jerry Gore in 2016 on a climbing trip in Nepal to Cholatse. Cholatse is a seldom climbed mountain which sits in the shadow of Mt. Everest. Conditions were excellent and we completed the climb with a week to spare. Most of the team went to Kathmandu to celebrate. However Gerry and I used the time to do a 4 day trek during which we met with a potential future Dalai Lama - a young monk, who, at just 5 years old, has already started his training in one of the most inspirational and remote landscapes I've ever encountered. On the return leg of the trek Gerry, himself a diabetic, described his A4D Charity (Action for Diabetics) and suggested we do a promotion for A4D at some future stage. At that time, I could never have imagined the enormity of what he would eventually propose!

Jerry being an internationally known Big Wall Climber (he holds the UK speed ascent for the north face of the Eiger), suggested "The Nose" as the A4D challenge - a challenge so far beyond my ability that I just had to say YES! Having said Yes, and having met with Gerry in France during the summer, communications went quiet but training continued. Then came the bad news that Jerry had a serious accident (smashed by a car from his bike). He was was lucky to be alive and facing a year of Rehab. Putting aside his own problems he managed to persuade Andy Kirkpatrick (one of Britain's top Big Wall Climbers) to take over as Leader of the Trip. I'm still training hard, looking forward to the next two weeks with feelings of excitement and trepidation and I'll get updates posted as and when possible.
