Story

Hello Everyone

Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page.  That's me with my beautiful family celebrating my 60th birthday in Scotland in June 2009.

After 45 years working for the Government, I have decided to get on with the rest of my life, so I am therefore retiring on 29 October.  Part of that life will be spending time on the Shane Alderman Charitable Trust where we are trying to raise funds to support athletes with disabilities, who are hoping to compete in the London Paralympics in 2012.

I have asked my family and friends not to buy me any retirement gifts - I have everything I need - but if people wish to donate to the Shane Alderman Charitable Trust, that would be brilliant.

We have undertaken a number of fundraising activities and about 18 of us walked about 20+ miles through the stunning Brecon Beacons last weekend and that walk has raised about £1,500 so far.

We are hoping to squeeze in an indoor 5-a-side football match at work between the Crumblies and the Embryos before I retire, which will hopefully raise a few shillings.

We will be holding quiz nights, garden parties, car boot fairs and other events in the coming months and I have Shane Alderman sweatshirts and tee-shirts to sell, so please keep an eye on this page and the Shane Alderman website (www.shanealdermantrust.org) which will be up and running very shortly.  If you wish to get in touch with me direct, my email address is john.slate49@hotmail.com

Thank you very much for your time.

All the best.
