We visited the sanctuary with Dad in 2018. During the visit, Dad adopted a donkey and donated money for food.  Dad was passionate about the charity and supporting the welfare of the donkeys within their care. Mum and Dad have continued to support the charity with their annual donation for the adoption of Dave the Donkey for Jessie.

 
Dad was an animal lover; animals would flock to him. Wasps would even eat from Dad’s hand. Dad once found a rabbit in the street. He knocked on all of the doors in the vicinity to check whether anyone had lost their pet but to no avail. Mitzy, as we named her, returned home with Dad where he used his carpentry skills to build a run and a hutch. Not long afterwards, a neighbour found a rabbit in their garden; they knew exactly where to take the unclaimed rabbit, Peppa was welcomed into the family along with our dog, fish, rabbit, guinea pigs and hamster.  Many of our pets were rescued, from dogs to fish; a budgie even flew in the open window of Dad’s car when he was driving.  Dad had the knack of being in the right place at the right time. 

Donating to the Donkey Sanctuary in memory of our lovely Dad will continue to make a lasting difference to the lives of the donkeys.
