London to Brighton Off-Road Bike Ride 2014 · 20 September 2014 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

We completed the BHF London to Brighton Off-Road bike ride yesterday. Thank you so much for your sponsorship. Many thanks also to the BHF for such a well organised event, and my wife Jane who drove down to Brighton to collect us at the finish. All money donated goes to the BHF charity. The event itself is paid for by by the rider's entry fees. 3,000 people took part yesterday, raising an estimated £400,000.

The event was a tough 73 mile off-road course with 3 big hills. The final one, Beeding Hill, was especially brutal. It was hard enough pushing a bike up the track, let alone trying to ride up! The descent in the dark down the stony track to Brighton added a final bit of spice to proceedings.
