We raise funds to save Staffies to get them out pounds and off death row

Story

The West Highland Way has been on my bucket list for a while now, so I just decided to get the hiking boots on and do it! However the challenge of doing this solo trek has only just started to sink in, so I thought, why not do a wee bit of fundraising.

One of the charities I have decided to fundraise for is Staffie Smiles Rescue. Why? Because I absolutely adore these dogs! My two staffies Eddie and Max keep me going. They are cheeky, cuddly, spirited and energetic, keen to please, loyal and extremely loving and super affectionate!

Staffie Smiles Rescue or SSR was founded in October 2012 by a group of staffie lovers from all over Scotland. They want to make a difference to the future of abandoned staffies who end up in pounds across the UK through no fault of their own.

The rescue is self funded and receives no other financial help. It gets asked every day to help dogs needing rescue space to save their lives. Public awareness, education, spay/neutering and micro-chipping are the way forward to help to try and end this cycle.

I am walking the West Highland Way over 7 days and camping for 6 nights. I start the trek on Saturday 29th April and finish on Friday 5th May.  It will be physically challenging as I'm carrying my kit and food all the way. Distances range from around 10 - 20 miles a day over various terrain. Unfortunately my two lovely staffies Eddie and Max wont be joining me on this trek, they can't get time off work :-).

I am grateful for any donations big or small as it all adds up! Donations to the rescue can help cover the costs of vet treatment, neutering/spaying, vaccinations, training sessions and emergency boarding fees.

Thank you for the taking the time to read over my page.

I'm looking forward to the challenge, but even more so for the hearty meal and dram in Fort William a week on Friday! But the icing on the cake will be the greeting I receive from my boys on the Saturday night.

Jolene :-).

We are a non-profit organisation that relies completely on donations from adoptions and fundraising events so that we can ensure that any dog we help to save is healthy and up-to-date with vaccinations, neutered, given worm/flea treatments and that they are treated for any illnesses before rehoming.
