We deliver sport & physical activity groups to aid recovery from mental health problems

Story

“NSI Golf Society proudly supports a charity that is close to the hearts of one or many members each year, this golfing season 20/21 is no different and the charity Sport In Mind’ I chose as the charity we will be supporting this year.

Sport In Mind is a mental health charity formed and based in Reading Berkshire in 2010 and operates across the South East (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and Kent) so in many of the towns and cities were we all live.

Their mission is simple “To improve the life’s of people experiencing mental health problems through sport and physical activity”.

This charity aims through delivering physical activity (sport, walking, dance and movement, gardening and exercise sessions) projects in partnership with the amazing NHS in order to aid recovery, promote mental wellbeing, improve physical health, combat social isolation and empower people to move their lives forward in a positive direction.

Experiencing first-hand the positive impact that physical activity (even
golf) can have on a person’s mental health & wellbeing, I chose this
charity as they are local charity so any money raised will really make a difference to those that may be suffering with their mental
health across our local communities.

2020 has been a real struggle for many people and I’m sure we all know someone that has in recent times suffered with their mental health so please any donations over the year I know will be greatly received and will make a huge difference to the charity and people living with a mental illness.
