Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page

I am taking part in a Warrior Adrenaline Race on Saturday 21st April at Woodhall in Hertford to raise money for specialist PE and sports equipment for Special Needs Schools in Grenada.

The Obstacle Course Race consists of a range of obstacles (zip lines, tunnels, rope climb challenges, wall climbing and many more) in mud, muck and plenty of water!

My motivation behind participating in an event outside my comfort zone is due to the Jason Roberts Foundation which has had a special place in my heart over the past two years.

Our partnership started from the current role I have at the Village School in Kingsbury where I work as the schools PE lead. We have formed an excellent partnership with the foundation who support and coach our pupils on a weekly basis with multi-sports and football sessions. We also participate in a range of exciting sports trip with the foundation and their fellow partners the Golf Trust at inclusive golf fun days.

The partnership has gone from strength to strength and in May last year I had the opportunity to work with the foundation in Grenada where I was involved in the growth of disability sport planning and delivering their annual multi-sports event at the Kirani James national stadium. I worked with three Special Needs Schools on the island liaising with a range of professionals to coordinate and develop their PE curriculum which has been ongoing since my visit.

This was a life changing experience and it was amazing to see the great work the foundation have been doing in Grenada over the past ten years. It is a huge project which is why I want to raise money to make a difference to the amazing children who I had the pleasure of meeting and working with.

Purchasing a range of resources such as specialist trampolines and multi-sport disability equipment will support their progress, health and wellbeing and provide them with the opportunities to fulfil and achieve their potential. It will give these children more opportunities to be physically active and engage in their physical development.

It is important they gain early interventions to be given the best possible education so that their needs and aspirations can be met.

From what I witnessed in Grenada a number of these talented pupils have the potential to be future Paralympic athletes and I believe these resources will make a huge difference to help them achieve their dreams.

Your donations will support the Grenada education system and will be very much appreciated!

Thanks a lot,

Jonathan
