Story
As a Sunday cyclist, I hope I have not bitten off more than I can chew! Caroline is hoping not as she is one of the 4 support crew following the 9 riders. We keep reminding ourselves that we are tackling the 400 miles in 4 days through the 6 counties of Lancashire, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham, Yorkshire, and back through Lancashire crossing the Pennines twice, all in aid of two worthy causes.
The invaluable work of Trinity Hospice needs no further explanation but is reliant on the on-going support of the community.
The second cause will be less familiar to you.
Our church is developing a new Community Hub facility. As the church has been developing the building plans, it has also been developing Wesley's Community Cafe which will be at the heart of the Community facility. During 2017 Wesley's Cafe catered for families with young children and provided a meeting place for the eldery. In addition to paying customers, over 500 free meals have been given to Foodbank clients last year.
Other benfits of the project include:
- Recycling unsold food from supermarkets
- Cooking on a Budget - training people how to cook healthy & affordable meals
- Training and personal development courses
- Provision of interview rooms and a store room for the use of Fylde Food Bank, so they can provide training to assist people back into employment and to improve self-esteem and self-confidence in people to overcome mental illness
Please support us in supporting all those whose lives will be positively affected by the donations to these worthy causes.
Thanks for your support.
