Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After years of talking about it, I am finally taking that rather large leap of extending my previous best of 10km, to running the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April 2018 for the Reed’s School Foundation. I embark on this journey with Finners, a far younger training partner, to add to the challenge.
My association with Reed’s School and the School Foundation began in 1998 when my younger brother joined as a Year 9 pupil. In 2013 I became part of the school community as a teacher and I began to fully realise the impact that the Foundation - The London Orphan Asylum - has and continues to have on the lives of disadvantaged children. For
my first two years in the school I had the pleasure of having one such pupil in my tutor group. He epitomised everything that is great about the Foundation and what it can provide and in turn produced a pupil that not only embraced these opportunities but became a public voice to promote them.
Knowing that we will be raising money to help children that have been exposed to a range of social, cultural and emotional issues to reach their full potential at Reed’s School is hugely uplifting and takes the edge off those bleak morning runs in the cold and dark. For both of us this will be our first marathon so we are fully aware of how tough this will be. However we view this as an opportunity to give back to Reed’s School. We hope you will all get behind and support us. You can read a
little more about the Reed's Foundation on the link to their JustGiving
homepage or go to their website.
Many thanks
Jonny
