Running is my happy place, and a place where I discover true freedom.  As an ultra runner, those hours and miles running can seem a selfish pursuit at times.  I wanted to give purpose to those steps, to those miles. 

I have chosen to partner with Selah Freedom as I prepare for and run 100 miles from Key Largo to Key West this May.  I will to use this endeavor and adventure to create awareness and to raise funding for a cause very dear to my heart.  Freedom is something most of us are innately born into in the U.S., and it can be easily taken for granted.  There is a misconception that sex trafficking is something that happens elsewhere in the world.  While it is not only a huge issue within the U.S., it is happening in our own backyard.  Sex trafficking is a very real and dark form of slavery that is happening every day. 

Selah Freedom brings light into the darkness of sex trafficking.  Selah is a Hebrew word which means to pause, rest, and reflect.  Women in Selah's programs have an opportunity to dream again; to discover who it is they were created to be.  What began as the grassroots initiative of women from across the country to be a voice for the voiceless, has quickly transformed into a thriving organization with four foundational programs: Awareness, Prevention, Outreach and Residential.  Selah Freedom closely partners with law enforcement, legislators and influential leaders to not only shed light on the staggering statistics, but to change those statistics by changing lives!
