We provide volunteer-powered recovery to build resilience following disasters

Story

Thanks everyone for making it to my fundraising page!

In May I will be travelling to the island of Leyte in the Philippines for two months voluntary work. I will be helping build housing following the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013. Typhoon Haiyan was classed as a super typhoon and partially damaged or destroyed 1.1 million homes. If you click the video in the gallery below then the first few minutes show the scale of the damage.

The work includes every aspect of building the house – deconstructing the existing building, digging foundations, cement mixing for the foundations and the septic tanks, laying out the superstructure, building joists, floors, walls, and finally the roof.
It will be very physically demanding and involves a 6am start 6 days per week!

Donations to the charity will go towards building materials, tools and equipment for the project (sadly not towards a beer fund for me!)

I will be very thankful for any money you are able to give and assure you it is going to a great cause!

Thanks,
Jonny
