Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The North of England Children's Cancer Reseach Fund is a local charity that over the past 30 years has helped building up Newcastle as one of the leading research centres for childhood cancer.

Currently, times are tough and we need their support more than ever. Your donation will help our research on developing new and better treatments for children and young people with cancer. Despite all the immense progress over the last few decades, cancer remains the main cause of non-accidental death in children. Even for the 80% of children and young people that we cure, treatment comes with significant side effects and, more worryingly, sometimes with late effects that can impair chronic health. We need better and less toxic therapies!

Therefore, I decided to run the Great North Run this year in support of the NECCR. Please help our research with a generous donation.

Many thanks for your support on behalf of our patients,

Professor Josef Vormoor, Sir James Spence Professor of Child Health
