March for Men - Luton · 3 March 2018

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

The picture I have used for this profile is Dad, with Declan Cahill - a brilliant human and Dad’s surgeon

Dad’s Prostate Cancer diagnosis was a surprise that none of us were quite prepared for.

Those who know Dad well,  will know that he is a strong and committed man with unwavering resilience. In my mind, he decided that day that he would get through this challenge. To him, Prostate Cancer was just another challenge in his life and something else to overcome.

Thankfully he has, with support from Prostate Cancer UK

I am eternally thankful that Dad was strong enough to take this view, as his diagnosis was a surprise to all of us. That’s why I call Prostate Cancer a ‘Silent Killer’ - it’s the one that nobody seems to talk about.

But how can this be? Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. Over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year – that's 129 men every day. Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostate cancer – that's more than 11,000 men every year.

Please help me raise awareness of Prostate Cancer by either donating here to the good work being done by Prostate Cancer UK or by taking part in our March for Men event on 24th March  (RE-ARRANGED, no longer March 3rd due to adverse weather conditions!)

For this great cause, I will also be taking on;

•    March 11th - Milton Keynes Festival of Running 10km
•    March 18th – Adidas Fulham 10km
•    April 28th - Henley Tough Mudder
•    May 6th – MK Rocket Run 5k
•    May 7th – MK Marathon Relay along with Vicki, Gabby & Dawn
•    May 9th – Silverstone 10km
•    May 13th – Richmond Park 10 Miles
