RIDE Hereford · 14 July 2019 ·

We provide a range of services in Herefordshire and the surrounding area to people living with a terminal illness. Care is free to patients, their families and carers. This is thanks to supporters taking part in events, visiting our shops, playing our Lottery, donating and leaving gifts in wills.

Story

May I begin this message by letting everyone know I haven't sat on a bike for just under 5 years (see cover photo), what have I got myself into?

To give you a little background... I moved to Hereford just over 12 months ago from Cwmparc in Wales (yes I am a valley boy) and my new job introduced me to the team at St. Michael's hospice. Over this short period of time I cannot express in words alone the complete awe and admiration I have for everyone involved at the Hospice for the work, devotion and compassion they provide. Every time I visit I leave with the question ‘how can I give back?”

Sharon Marks and Benjamin Pardoe - Volunteer Co-ordinator at the hospice suggested as a complete novice I start on the 40 mile ride, see that’s how kind they are!!! I’ve therefore committed to 100 miles (not even sure my old bike is even a road worthy!).

I would like to devote this ride to a gentlemen in my life who experienced first hand St Michael's kind, attentive and thoughtful care for an important woman in his life.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated on behalf of the charity and my personal motivation to complete this challenge.

Thank you for taking the time to read this,
