In Memory of Joshua

Jimmy and Danni Arnold is raising money for UK Sepsis Trust
In memory of Joshua Arnold
Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

Tragically on the 18th of August 2022, our 10 month old son, Joshua, lost his life to Sepsis.

We had travelled to France for a family wedding, but soon after Joshua came down with a nasty virus. We took him to the local doctors and Children's emergency hospital the following day, and both confirmed that no treatment was required and keeping him home to fight the virus was the best course of action. Unfortunately, between receiving this advice and us taking Joshua back to the hospital 36 hours later, he contracted a bacterial infection which led to severe septic shock, cardiac arrest and multiple organ failure. He was pronounced dead 2 days later.

The symptoms of sepsis were almost identical to those of the virus he was fighting, so whilst we watched for the advised warning signs (which never came), by the time we got Joshua back to the hospital it was too late.

By fundraising in Joshua's memory, we want to help raise awareness of the symptoms of Sepsis in children, in the hope that it may prevent more tragedies of this kind.
