At SurvivorsUK we know sexual abuse has a profound impact on those who experience it and can deeply affect mental health and relationships. But we are here to help sexually abused male and non-binary people, and their family, no matter when the abuse happened. We're here to support, challenge, build

Story

I have chosen £500 as my goal as that amount covers the total cost of the skydive and extra too go as donations towards the charity. Awareness for me is the most important thing here. The reason I choice this charity is because in my opinion I think sometimes we as people can characterise “survivors” as women, girls. But boys and men experience rape too, and sexual abuse. And it is important to talk about this so it is not over looked. Something like this to you life can be utterly soul destroying. It effects your daily live in ways people probably couldn’t imagine.
It can affect your self image, your self worth, your mental health and your physical health. We as a community need to stand behind charities such as this to get the message out there and encourage men and boys to speak up about any sexual abuse/ rape as one person speaking up can stop it happening to someone else, and that can stop someone’s life from being destroyed.  Many years individuals can experience abuse/ rape and not fully understand/comprehend what has happened, which can twist their mind and make them feel like they are in the wrong, and they should be the ones to now their head in shame and disgust, and this is why we need more people coming forward with their story, so they can be helped and supported through the ordeal they have undergone and they can try and repair the damage that has been made in their live through counselling and other support.

SurvivorsUK helps men who’ve been raped, sexually abused or assaulted. Every year in the UK, around 12,000 men are raped and 76,000 sexually abused or assaulted. It isn’t easy for men to talk about what’s happened to them: only 4% will speak about it. Of the few who do, it takes an average of 26 years to do so. SurvivorsUK wants to challenge stereotypes and taboos that prevent men speaking about what’s happened to them. Our counselling, helpline and support services are here to help men deal with the devastating impact of rape and sexual abuse.
