VTO provides free educational support to disadvantaged children in Glasgow, helping children who need it the most, bridging the attainment gap, and building confidence.

Story

All too often, children from disadvantaged backgrounds or children who face learning difficulties fall through the cracks. They aren’t always offered that extra level of support because our education system is already stretched as it is. This is when the children can feel like there is no other hope and that’s why VTO provides an incredible service in these cases. Many families cannot afford private tutoring, therefore, organisations like VTO offer this service with the remarkable help of volunteer tutors. Only with the help of these charities, can children be given the support to reach their full potential.

The Volunteer Tutors Organisation (VTO) is a charity, registered in 1977, which provides support for children who experience difficulties with their education. They recruit, train, place, resource and support volunteer tutors to give one-to-one educational support and guidance to children from disadvantaged backgrounds Glasgow Wide.

As this is a cause which we feel passionate about, we felt that VTO was the perfect charity to choose for our fundraiser. Therefore, we will be taking on the Mighty Stride (21 Miles) on the 17th September for the Edinburgh Kiltwalk. This money will help VTO continue to offer the amazing service they provide for young people.

We would appreciate any money you can spare to help us reach our fundraising goal for VTO.
